I'm flying back to the US in April for a weekend - unfortunately there are no direct flights to Boston from Narita, so I have to transfer in Detroit. I'm flying with NWA for both legs.

Here's what I don't know the logistics of - if I check luggage at Narita, do I have to claim it and then re-check it in Detroit, or will it automatically be transferred? I only have 90 minutes inbetween flights, so I'm trying to figure out what I can do.

Ideally I'd love to bring a suitcase full of stuff that's taking up space here (namely the big winter jacket that I don't need because the weather's been consistently beautfiul) and ship it back to Philly, but obviously I can't miss my connecting flight.

Thanks!
