Hello, all --
After a month home, I've decided I can no longer watch Japanese tv. I'm worried I'm going to start emulating the NHK woman (the Japan, the North Korea, etc.). Perhaps my reaction is more acute having just returned but...I really think I need cable or satellite. Admittedly, many of the news channels covered the Anna Nicole Smith saga while I was home (like I could be any more disinterested...), but there was also the other more important stuff.
The situation is so severe that I'm even willing to pay the NHK fee...
So, anyone have any idea about current pricing/offers? I use OCN for Internet. Not sure if they have bundle packages, etc. Of course, I could call them - and may do just that - but I thought I'd ask for your experiences first.
Movies would be nice, but I'm far more interested in news/current events (CNN, MSNBC, FOX, etc.). Not sure how much longer I'll be here, but if I want to leave Japan with my articles intact, I think more exposure to non-Japanese tv would be good.(Yes, I know - I have no right to criticize since I've "mastered" but one language...and even that's slipping). I guess one can only take so many years of variety shows, watching people have orgasms from food, etc. It's taken its toll...
Please tell me what you use (cable/satellite), the company, how you like it, the cost, etc. Not sure it makes a difference, but I'd be particularly interested in hearing from people living in this area (Nagoya).
Much appreciated --
