I just got my first paycheck and was surprised to see how much money was deducted for the insurance/pension system I'm enrolled in. It is called "Kyosai Kakekin", which I believe is something like "Shigaku Kyosai" (private school employees' insurance?). I know next to nothing about it and couldn't find much on the internet either. I guess my question is, is it normal for me to pay around 26,000 yen for a 300,000 monthly salary? I'm a full-time direct hired employee at a private high school. I would really appreciate any information about this since that seems to be a bit much to me.
