Default does having a visitor's visa be used in finding jobs in japan?

im visiting japan in the next 4 mos and planning to look for part time jobs, ALT i suppose but the Visa that ill be applying at is only visitor's visa wherein ill be given a 3-month long stay in the country,i will be guarenteed by the husband of my aunt.

is it possible that i can land to a job having that visa and eventually be extended or sponsored later on by my employer?

please give me some ideas and advices, it'll be very much appreciated.

by the way, im a registered nurse in my country, but any part time job not related to my profession will do.

    thank you

I'm from the US and originally arrived in Japan on a tourist visa. I was offered a job shortly after arriving, filed for a change of status at immigration, and in a few weeks received the actual change in my passport.

I'm sure one's ability to do this would depend on nationality, qualifications, type of change, etc. So good luck.
go on. give em a squeeze. I don't mind.

I did it too.. Came here on a 3 month visa, and got a job during my second month... Its really not that difficult. Just bring an original college diploma, and youre set. I took about $5000US, and it tided me over until my first paycheck. Seriously, theres no problem in doing this.. many people go this route I suspect.

If you're just looking for PT work, that won't be something an employer can use to sponsor a work visa.

    Hey gang,

You all need to understand that immigrations has different rules for different nationalities and what Americans can do, Filipinos and other Asians can not. So it is not so good to tell someone from the Phillippines that they should do what you have done. It might get them in hot water. The Japanese tend to look and think of people from Asian countries differently than they do Western foreigners. Being a certified Nurse will help the O.P. but not that much.

Even less than not much at all, until the Japanese agree to recognise Filipino nursing qualifications - after the decisions and agreements to import Filipino caregivers last year, not one has entered under that system.

With Tourist visa, it is legal to look for jobs.

With Tourist visa, it is illegal to do any job.

If you have sufficient qualification, your employer would sponser for visa and he would apply to immigration office to get work permit.

Work Permit decision is purely based on your qualification and experience only.(unless employer has bad records).

You may still tend to do part-time jobs while you are on Tourist Visa. But is illegal as per law. Many people would opt for Working Hoilday visa for this case.

This is my view and may not be 100% perfect !!

    Good Luck

    Moobies,
with breast like you've got of course you weren't included. Just reminding people that what is easier for US westerners and not the same for Asians in this country.

Thanks. And a valid point too. The immigration laws of any country are complicated by so many factors.

By the way, you should see me on wet t-shirt night!

Or any day that I go to the beach. Still haven't convinced any girls to go topless with me tho...
