So, apparantly Sky Perfect have dropped the EPL. Has any other broadcaster picked it up?

This is shockingly bad news!
I just called skyperfect and they say they haven't made a final decision (just a fob off I guess). The EPL is too expensive for perfect choice and they are trying to find another channel to broadcast it.
Anyone reading this, please call them on 0570-039-888
If they get enough complaints threatening to cancel subscriptions they may be swayed.

This fecking country, if it doesn't involve a Japanese, it ain't happening.
Just looked at the schedule for the week ahead and it seems that you're right.

Worst news ever. Will games still be on in Pubs etc? How regularly are games on in these kinds of establishments?
I'm a spurs fan and with the transfers of Bent and Bale we're looking pretty good. That being said I expect Man City, Aston Villa, West Ham, Newcastle, Everton and Blackburn all to be competing plus Arsenal have looked great in pre-season. I've never been this excited about a prem season!
COYS!
As the pubs use Skyperfect it will mean it wont be on in pubs either!
I notice the Scottish PL is still on. Best hope is that Nakamura transfers to an EPL team!
Bloody Japanese media tunnel vision!!!!
Still in shock....................
This is such a kick in the teeth. There is just no hope for this country.Originally Posted by thomasimposter

I was a little suspicious 2 years ago, when Skysports changed to J Sports. It looks like my suspicions were well founded.

Because, let's be honest, it's the only thing Chelsea might win this year. Man U look like they've stepped up a gear with the summer signings..
Yeah, they are.Originally Posted by Danger Man

I reckon you'll need advice about p2p and the like..Originally Posted by The Old Man

Let's not be tooo hasty. It still says 'undecided' on the skypa website (unlike the poor old Dutch league which has definitely got the chop).
Didn't the Premier League chop and change the broadcasting rights at the end of last season? Sky doen't have a monopoly in the UK now. Maybe skyperfect are thrashing out an agreement at the moment.
Arsenal/Chelsea/Man U all had their own channel stuff on 306/307/308 last year. Are these still available? Shame all of the games they show are recorded. For me it's got to be on live.
The Champions League is definitely on at least. But watching live games at 4 or 5am is a bit tough.
P2P like Sopcast may be the way to go. My ancient i-mac can't use sopcast and my even older Windows PC struggles too..............
Every time I go to skypa's website there's that skiiny effete idiot Nakamura rubbing in the fact that we can see Scottish games but not English ones.

Yeah I called them a couple of days ago too.
The people who answer are just call centre drones (in the Philipines I think) who of course have no idea about sky's bidding procedures or broadcasting rights. All they said was they didn't have the information yet.
Agree it isn't looking good. Maybe they'll get a cut price deal with the Premier League and at least get highlights and the occasional big live game. I'm clutching at straws here.
What am I going to do on Saturday/Sunday nights now? I suppose I'll have to talk to the wife or something.
Or buy a new PC so I stand a chance of watching sopcast without the screen freezing every 20 secons.
I'm ending my subscription to the football package. I may be a fan of Vegalta, but there is no way I'm paying Y3,500 to watch crappy J1 and J2 soccer. I could watch better soccer on Hackney marshes on a Sunday morning, and it was free!
I always cancel mine in June and restart it in August (hey 3000 yen is 3000 yen).Originally Posted by The Old Man
I'll probably get the package next month regardless. Champions League is on at least from September. And you also get Jsports 1/2/3 I think so there may be some club channels on those as well as other sports stuff that may be worth watching. And the Rugby World Cup for example suddenly sounds appealing (some sport any sport will do). Only 100 yen or so a day.
Still Skypa bast#*ds.
I just called them . Dunno how trustworthy this info is but anyway..........
The guy at the other end said that they'll announce something on the 10th or 11th (talk about cutting it fine). He said they wouldn't be showing as many games as last season. That was all he could say. It sounds like they're getting a lot of pi##ed off English expats calling them so I hope he wasn't just fobbing me off.
So I reckon it might be 1 live game a week, perhaps some delayed coverage and the highlights/preview show.
I can't believe this. I thought premier league football was popular in Japan even with the Japanese? This is a sad sad day indeed, will I be forced to watch the highlights on youtube? please no... omg

If you're serious I think that it's pretty pathetic.

They are all probably around the same quality as Sopcast, but last season I used the following...
TVAnts
PP Stream
PP Mate
TVU Player
Between them there should be enough games to go around.
And i'm dissapointed that nobody above mentioned my beloved Portsmouth and their summer acquisitions... ;D

Has anyone got the Japanese skill level to talk to someone in Skapa who knows what's happening?
I've never found the customer feedback for programming with these guys. Is there one? Definately not on the English site.
One of my friends received a letter explaining that Sky will not purchase the rights to broadcast and explained his package will change. I cancelled my kaigai set for the summer and never received any news about it.
Did anyone else receive this letter?
Well it isn't looking good. Nothing on tomorrow (the start of the season) for sure...............
Looks like it's sopcast time.
I was so looking forward to sitting down on Saturday nights with a cold beer in one hand and the remote in the other with a choice of games. Now I'll be getting a headache watching small jerky pics on an ancient slow PC.
Is Japan fecked or what?
On Sky Perfect 306 and 307 tonite we've got the Aresnal match, the Manchester derby and Liverpool v Chelsea.
What's going on, will this be a weekly set up or is it a one off?
I'd guess it was brand labels.Originally Posted by The Old Man

FIVE games this weekend, 2 midweek games were on live too. Long may it continue.........and to watch the Premier/Champions leagues is cheaper than last season.Originally Posted by The Old Man
I forgive skypa for missing Week 1.
I noticed an ad last night for MLS..............think I'll be giving that a miss along with Celtic.
Nice first half of the Man City v Man Utd match, 1-0 to Man City!
It's great to see Man Utd doing so badly at the beginning of the season
