A real Japanese girlfriend?

That came out wrong. A normal Japanese girlfriend? Thats a bit better I suppose. Im currently on a one year scholarship at Osaka International University, so yeah, I know a few words and phrases in Japanese. My question to you guys is, and Im not sure if Im going to get it across properly, but is there any chance of a whitie like me getting a Japanese girlfriend.

Now, I dont mean a girl who wants someone to practice English with, or a girl who wants to show of a gaijin to all her friends, or a girl who collects foriegn friends as a hobby or a girl that just wants some sex from a pasty white guy. I mean just a normal, everyday Japanese girl. When asking Japanese guys about it, I normally get `Japanese girls love white guys` as a typical response, but that just seems like a set phrase used to shut losers like me up.

I dunno, Im kind of under the impression that Japanese girls see gaijin like me as a novelty, and nothing else.

I get the feeling it might actually be a bit of a lost cause, or Im a lost cause or however you want to put it

Go find a group of 2-3 grilled cheese sandwiches (girls) sitting at a table at some food joint. Then just ask them if your busted up ___ can join them. And for gods sake, don't dress like a wilderness boy with stinky shirts and jeans so dirty they can get up and walk by themselves.

As long as your heart is in the right place, (and it sounds like it) you should be able to find a like minded girl. Dont
worry about "game" just be polite, pay careful attention to
subtle clues (Japanese who are not interested in u will show
it in very subtle ways but still remain polite) and try to be as well groomed as possible,

One word of warning: i keep hearing stories about americans
complaining of their Japanese SO's suddenly breaking up out of the blue. So just b/c you can get a relationship doesnt mean it'll be all rainbows/lollipops. This is coming from
me, an Asian American female who thinks Japanese guys (the ones in Japan, not in the States) are intriguing/sweet yet .... maybe not the best long term prospects??? Japanese
are not as "sweet" as they appear on the surface. Dont take my word for it b/c I have never been involved w/ someone living in Japan.

I get why you don't want a gf that is just after ANY G-boy, we all want to be wanted for who we are, not what we are.
but don't get your knickers in a twist over this, especially as ur not even here yet. sometimes wanting a gaijin boy is just a preference, like liking a guy with a beard or skinny guys....
we all base initial interest on the superficial, and gradually love someone for deeper reasons over the longterm.

Saying that, the best way to meet ‘ordinary’j girls is to make friends with Japanese guys.
1 J-girl = 1 J-girl
1 J-guy = 3-4 J-girls
