The one I stayed at was reasonably clean, but I had a couple complaints. First, the walls and doors are fairly thin, so if you live on a busy street or have noisy neighbors (as I did) you may find the noise annoying.

My second complaint was the very large and difficult to kill cockroaches that visited my apartment from time to time.

Pluses were that the TV and internet fees were included in the rent, and though I had to pay for the gas and electricity, the bills were not expensive.

Oooh, at Bunkyo!? If so, send my regards to Shiori. Her adventurousness in bedroom belies her innocent looks!

Now onto LeoPalace... as frontman said, there are positives and negatives. Obviously, a relatively newer LP apartment will be considerably less problem-free than the older ones. Knew a guy who lived in one of the latter, and the whole place smelled like dank, rotting wood.

Be careful of those by taking a big whiff upon inspection.

As above, ya, you'll hear different things from different people based on their own experiences.
For me, I don't have any neighbours on either side of my place so I consider myself lucky so that the Mrs and I are left alone and undisturbed.
Plus you've got free broadband, PPV movies and optional specialty channels you can order if you like ($20 a month for anime, movies, lots of sports, not to mention the pron ). And as another poster said, the bills are reasonable so opt for the not included option rather than pay another 20,000 to 30,000 each month. You will never use that much, not even close.

Bad: Train line right next door.

Good: net connection within 2 days.

Was small but the loft made it livable (although the kitchen only had one electric ring and was the width of the door!)

I could hear my neighbours snoring every night but I am a very light sleeper. Had a neighbour below bang my floor one night as I guess he could hear me and a friend laughing. Thin thin walls.

totally agree (i stayed at a leoplace appartment in kansai for some month).

the only good thing i can say about the cockroaches there is, that i was never afraid that they will crawl into my mouth while i am sleeping, they were just way to big...
Never did I wanna be here again
    And I don't remember why I came

I know some people who work for Leopalace.

It works on rankings - the higher the apartment's ranking, the better it is (and of course, the more expensive). In that regard, people can't really complain about Leopalace the company if they stay in a bad apartment, because it will probably mean they stayed in a cheap one. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for.

Advantages generally are that it's convenient - I think furnished, plus broadband + utililties etc included (so no need to sign contracts with utilities companies)

Disadvantages are that it's relatively expensive, and you have to pay everyting upfront (fixed term lease).

Sakurahouse is meant to be pretty good - all of the advantages Leopalace, and pay by the month.

The post is about how you can live at Sakura House and not pay any rent, unless I stand to be corrected. I know dudes doing it. That post is about how the scheme works and what would happen if they find out.

The guy you'll be mooching off will still be paying rent. And maybe be without an apartment if you'll ever get caught. But if that ever happens you could always just share a cardboard box.. even cheaper.

Sure the guy who their mooching off is paying rent. But they allow you 1 person at x yen a month and 2 people in the room at at 2x a month. They only allow one person a room.

So hes saving a lot of money and actually not paying any extra (they could split the x amount between them but its still cheating SH for the extra x amount)

ITs the way to live at Sakura House for free.
