    Default NTT-Internet-FibreOptic-Help

    Hello there,

After months of trying, I nearly have a braodband connection. The problem seems to be something to do with fibreoptics in the appartment.
NTT finaly say I can be connected over the fibreoptic but ... ... ... their software will only work on a Japanese OS or WinXP ( I have 2000).
They say another foreigner they dealt with managed to dowload his own connection software over the net and it worked, but NTT don't know what it was.
So can anyone help? I am told the protocol is PPPoE (?).

    Thanks
    Taff

If you are considering Flets-B, it's PPPoE, available for D/L on the Fusion/ GOL home page (www.gol.com)

    Check out their FAQ.

Thats correct. Win XP has it's own pppoe client.
Just install the pppoe and you are online..

    Switching topics a little.....

How much should one expect to pay per month for a broadband connection? I am debating whether or not to even bring a laptop with me to Japan given that I will not have internet hooked up from my flat......although being able to use a laptop to play my music and video from interests me.....hmm...

Look at Fusion/ GOL Home page - all details there.
    www.gol.com

Some areas also have airlink 128k - PC Card wireless service
Also DoCoMo FOMA 384k wireless via mobile phone link or direct from PC card - at a price.
