    Default Tax and immigration

    Hello all,

As I sit here eating my cornflakes I was wondering about tax and immigration.

I am not paying tax as I would not of earned 1.3 million yen by March 2009. I am happy to go to the tax office and submit my payslips and get it all legally correct but I'm applying for my spouse visa extension in January so I can't give them my tax report or whatever it's called here.

My question is, will immigration check my tax payments?? and if they do and see nothing will that go against me? Should I give my pay slips and start date? or should I just explain in person or write a letter?

    Thank you

I think for the spouse visa extension the only tax record you need to provide is the withholding tax certificate (源泉徴収票).

To be on the safe side, I'd have copies of your pay slips ready just in case they ask.
