ACK!!!!!!!! Panda, how dare you????? I would not wish an English job upon ANYONE!!! Shame on you! =P =)

Yes, Cindy, it is POSSIBLE. Anything is possible, but your boyfriend and you are really going to have to do some homework. If I were you, I would start asking about the electrician field once you get here. Ask about working in it. Do not tell anyone first off it is for your boyfriend, tell them it's for a friend. Then make a few contacts if you can. Contacts are EVERYTHING in Japan. Even if you don't know the person you are going to see, if you can make a contact through a friend or coworker, it's like having a stamp of approval, a foot in the door. Not a gaurantee mind you, but it's better than a door in the ___ on the way out. =)

I don't know that I have seen any electrician jobs in Japan, but I am sure they are out there. Electrician is one of those jobs that may require he learn a little more, like the voltage changes, etc. (and obviously some Japanese).

Let me know how this goes. I am interested. You see, the more doors we as non-native Japanese open, the more chances we open for everyone else. It's hard enough to do anything other than teach English or banking or finance in Japan, and since I am not qualified or even remotely interested in any of those kinds of jobs, I look for those who would take bold steps forward with me. I would be willing to look around, but I can't guarantee. Fair enough?

    Best regards,

PS If you guys find it difficult to find him a job, and you have exhausted EVERY SINGLE AVENUE, you may consider getting him an ... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWW... English job, but ONLY to get him here, get him learning Japanese, and get him searching from this end of the ocean, which can be far easier.

Cindy!!! I am SO STUPID!!! Why didn't I think of it before?!? Tell your boyfriend to check with his union!!!!! They might have access to a database that would know the kind of information you are looking for!! If the local guys don't know anything, ask them to put your boyfriend in contact with some kind of national union rep who will have more resources at hand.
