Flets Hikari is a service that allows you do connect to the net after you have signed with them and a small soft is installed on the client PC.
Went rapidly through their FAQ but I couldn't find anything about updating 1.
Maybe some other popster who is using their services will come to help you.

"Update" in Japanese is ko-ou-shi-n　更新

what do you need to update?

you should avoid using there ppoe software to connect, there is no reason to, it can all be set up through their router.
