    Default Do J-girls have hobbies?

recently run into a couple of J-girls who seem to have no hobbies other than the usual shopping and spending an eternity putting on make-up

both are near 30 and working at jobs that a 15 year old could get back in the states

when i asked if they had goals or career aspirations they kinda looked at me with a blank stare

did i just happen to run into a couple of duds.........or is this par for the course?

    You need to ask?

OK, so for the final confirmation - time them for 60 seconds, and count the number of times they say Kawaiiiiiiiii or Majiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii (if less than the number of i's, then they are par - but if more, definately duds.)

One pair you met can't make up for the rest of the population.

A busy lifestyle and work culture doesn't exactly support a deep dedication to hobbies.
But hobbies are around. Drinking is one example.

Wow... strange. Most J-females I know have MANY hobbies. Sometimes a strange mixture of hobbies -like one acquaintance takes kickboxing and kimono lessons... no not at the same time.

Well, it could be good or bad... I suppose it depends on you. Maybe you could encourage your GF to try some hobbies you are interested in. Or maybe not.

I'm wondering the same kind of thoughts. I have noticed a major difference here too with things like this. They definitely do sound like a couple of duds really.

I can't stand dud/useless/cant-contribute-anything-useful-except-dream shopping chicks. Good for one thing and nothing more.

    did you use your noggin'?

I am talking about Japans population, not 2 girls, evident to most from that preceding sentence.

True. Perhaps I need to meet more. The ones I seem to meet just wanna get married, have 1/2 babies, quit their jobs, etc. They can't cook either and spent hours putting on their make-up. And whenever they have free time - they never seem to be doing much, other than shopping for cosmetics and waiting around for my free time to begin. They are kinda lazy too.

In no way was I trying to say that all J-girls are like this. I was just trying to see if anyone had experienced this kinda J-girl before.

Oh, and pillboxbaby........chill out with the sexist comments. I am not the man you love to hate.

Your choice, right? If they are (she is) cute, don't complain. Do what's "required" and move on!
I have seen thousands like them. Certain places breed them.
    I hate the NTA.

The language, Your Moderating Excellency! You are not in that-style position anymore.

By "really busy" I meant their job that 15-year old could do back home. I am sure you understood what I mean. You also understood that I have nothing to do with their lifestyle.

OP does have a point. Many J-girls (oh, not girls, 30-year old women!) are like he described: lazy, no interests, no hobbies, no..., no..., etc. Not just that pair of chicks that he knows.

No reason to talk about him with such a tone, Mr.Mod.

my point, not a terribly important one -- was in the preceding sentences -- one doesn't take them seriously -- one uses them and moves on.
    I hate the NTA.

Then why were you quoting, and insulting me? Language, Miss Vulgaria. Or I'll put you in some sort of revealing position, and show the horror to anyone on here making a fuzz.

Where do you meet these girls? If you want smart, go look in a library.

But anyway, hobbies? I had hobbies when I was a kid like catching tadpoles, collecting football stickers and setting fire to things. But now I am a man, I have put away childish things and spend my life working, drinking, sexing and child rearing.

I want to make it clear that the last two never take place at the same time.

Hmm. How many minutes after you met them did you start asking about their goals and career aspirations? Was it a blank stare or a WTF? stare?

this is all that the J-society expects of them! Be glad that you have met two sterling representatives of their culture. Good signposts for the coming demise as well.

the same can be said for the young men of the nation as well...

i think it says more about the kind of friends you have than anything else

so you have stupid / dull / uninteresting friends. keep smarter or more exciting company if you really want to meet girls who are interesting for reasons other than sex.

there are just as many stupid or dull people everywhere else in the world. it has nothing to do with japan.

why else do you think shows like ally mcbeal or reality tv lasted as long as they did?

you people keep blaming japan for relationship, personal, or any other issues. why don't you go back home for a while for a reality check. you'll come back to japan thinking "this ain't so bad"

Shopping and putting on make-up aren't hobbies? Sleeping isn't a hobby? Staring at moi in the mirror isn't a hobby? It is for them!

Those chicks aren't meant for you buddy. They are for the J blokes with the super teased hair and weigh about 35kgs. Would you want to date a bogan, chav, redneck or a gypsy?

This is spot on, I think. I went back to the US and came back. It ain't so bad.

Look for women with hobbies and goals. Trying having some yourself. My fiance is into kabuki, books, singing in a choir, going swimming. Her latest hobby is cooking for me!

    Default J-Woman eco system

The main goal here is for for the majority to reproduce for the next generation. To do that they need some protection, education, some places to go and a lot of ¥¥。

The ¥ can come from many ways. Skill is not neccessary, in many cases. The goal is to have some females around the office, etc. Socialize, meet some possible GF/BF or wife/husband material, etc. Some women have hobbies but others think over 8 minutes from the eki is far.

J-men have 99.9% of the local market. Do you really both sides have to try so hard to hook up for them? They don't need to be or act sophisicated. Just dress well and rehearse a few

    set phrases/words over and over.

Gaijin guys here often get the special "tourist" con from some of the local birds here. Her stated "high standards" to date her ONLY apply to you and your wallet! Her real BF or ex-BF is Mr. Average. Nothing wrong with that. You just get a smokescreen as her future is already programmed from the factory.
