The only dictionary that can do what you are looking for is the Canon Wordtank V80
    http://www.quinlanfaris.com/archives/000080.html

But I think you should get a zaurus. There are great dictionaries included and you can get the other ones you need for free. It is the most versitile dictionary tool ever. Not to mention you can read books, listen to music, do email, surf the net, anything you want) there is.

The sl-c3000 has 4 Gigabytes of space.

My friend got it used for 42000 yen. You can get one of the older ones for 20000 yen used. The space is good for the dictionaries though.

Not only can you use it in your hand as a pda you can also flip the screen around and type in it. It is really small so you can access it anytime if you put it in a pouch on your belt. That cannon word tank is way to big to be useful. Anytime you want to use it you would have to go digging in your bag for it which would cut down your study opportunities.

Please get the zaurus. If you need any help, send me a message. good luck

Wow, I can't believe this thread is still around. I posted it quite some time ago.

I ended buying a Casio XD-W89000. I love it. Super Jump feature rocks. It will give hiragana readings for all single kanji and most kanji groups. Some words you have to use Jump two times to get it all in hiragana. But, you must have some basic knowledge of Japanese for this model to be of any use to you. It has helped me to improve Japanese greatly and is very convenient to pull out in class when I just can't convey the meaning of English word to my students via other means, lol.

Anyways, glad this thread has stuck around and I hope lots of people have gotten some good info from it.

    Peace

    the OP

oh sheks, how i wish i could turn back time, i already got 1 its cannon v80, got it for 34100 inculding the pouch for it, i never saw the zaurus in the demo units,i guess i learn my lesson not to rush when buying things hehe, coz my officemate brought me to this yodobashi shop then i saw the v80 and got it,

after using the v80 it good, but not that accurate. and using in eng -> anything you can only search a word, dont know how to input like a sentence because i dont see any space bar in it,

sir bdmp your right its to big, its bigger than my pocket dictionary and it cant fit anyway in my jeans, im thinking of buying a hook but its too heavy instead.

thanks for the information , hope this v80 is good enough already, but english chinese and vice versa is really good execpt for the 1 word input thing only.

thanks alot sir. btw what are you using now ? how i wish i get hold of the zairus first before purchasing this one....

Default Seiko SR-M 6000 English menu?

    hi guys,
    I just bought the Seiko SR-M 6000 (for c. 14000 JPY via on-line store).
back in this thread somebody mentioned that it has English menu - how can this be activated? I have not found any notice about this in the (very thin) English part of the manual.
    thanks

    Default Canon targeted for Us?

There was a post that commented Canon WordTank is marketed towards foreigners. Does anyone concur with this?

Well, in some models at least you get an English manual and the ability to switch to english mode.
