Because, contrary to Progressive/Liberal/Socialist belief, the ability to fundraise is as much an important part of campaigning as it is a measurement of popularity. And before you accuse the money of coming from a mere handful of mega-corporations, I'd like to remind you that Republican fundraising is proven to consist of far more individual donations of under a hundred dollars than that of the Democrats and that Democrats receive more donations from the wealthy and corporations, as they are easily extorted and afraid of the potential revenge of the Lefties.

Nobody likes deficits. That said, there are structural and cyclical deficits. A raised level of unemployment automatically triggers both state and federal spending. Would you like to cut that out? This recession has been marked by an unusually high and prolonged level of unemployment, which the stimulus has only blunted. Can you imagine how worse things would have been without the stimulus?
