    Default Tea Party Convention!

Yes! The time has finally arrived for commencement of the first Tea Party Convention! Nerves are fraught as precedents are made right and ... well, right again! Too bad that the two elected politicians pulled out (boo!!!) - there is still (wait for it ... waiiit for it ...) Sarah Palin! The former half governor of Alaska, a state with a population equivalent to my adopted hometown, Kumamoto! How we long to see her vision for leading us out of the wilderness and towards a better upper-middle class world, where all can have their PACs buy their ghost-written books so as to pump up their royalties. There will be more, my friends, no doubt: there will be more.

and your ol' fashion conservatives like this:

but then you've got your new-fangled, good ol' fashion conservatives that look like this:

So: spooked? Perhaps. But I'm certainly alert.

Why are the rightist so afraid of Obama? Good old fashion corporate center right got you spooked? It does me. What we need is true good old fashion populism in the form of the progressive left.

And when oh when could you ever call the extreme talk and positions laid out by Palin and the teabaggers conservative?

    Conservative:
    adjective

    --cautiously moderate or purposefully low

-- traditional in style or manner; avoiding novelty or showiness
I think it's true and that's good enough for me.

Well, looks like the convention is up and running and - ha ha! - is turning into a predictably riotous event. According to one organizer, "We will have transparency that, frankly, is surprising to many people," Skoda said. Indeed, given that major news organizations are limited to Fox News, the Wall Street Journal and World Net Daily, many people will be surprised: c'mon, , the Wall Street Journal? Give me a break!

Also, here is an Internet exclusive taken by a friend of mine and his fiance when the accidentally stumbled upon the opening ceremonies!

    Very apt.

Always with these people, it's something like, "We need to get back to how things used to be."

    Fear change.

Sarah Palin did her speech without a teleprompter. Either she doesn't need one or can't figure out how they work. She did, however, have her main talking points well in hand:

Lessee, y'got 'energy,' 'tax,' and 'lift American spirits.' Looks like she even did a little editing, crossing out the 'budget' from 'budget cuts.'

The scary thing is that these are supposed to be her 'core beliefs.'

What we need is a good old fashioned proletarian revolution, bottom up, open the gulags, redoctrinate the masses and eat the rich.

Also ban religion, build a few great statues of the glorious leaders, and be on alert for the imperialist threats.
Just assume I hate you and we will get on fine.

And some Conservatives (a la Limbaugh) truly believed that she was POTUS material. Bwa ha ha ha ha ha. But it is she who is laughing now. She got paid for that gig. Joe the Plumber, Sarah Palin, Tammy Faye Baker -- damn, it really is true, ANYONE can be a success in America. Forrest Gump was not fictional after all.

Because, contrary to Progressive/Liberal/Socialist belief, the ability to fundraise is as much an important part of campaigning as it is a measurement of popularity. And before you accuse the money of coming from a mere handful of mega-corporations, I'd like to remind you that Republican fundraising is proven to consist of far more individual donations of under a hundred dollars than that of the Democrats and that Democrats receive more donations from the wealthy and corporations, as they are easily extorted and afraid of the potential revenge of the Lefties.

I don't know about proven. Depends on the year and it depends on who's running. Certainly, the actual number of small donors to Obama was more than any other candidate in the last election. Maybe the queen of the teabaggers had a higher percentage, but that's only because she had far fewer actual donors and the big corporations weren't going to seriously back a losing nut job like her.

Although I assume that you're "just kidding", as your signature points out, there are readers who might believe there is some truth to your ridiculous spin on things, so I suppose I should respond, just to remind the other readers not to take you seriously. And on the off chance that you are serious..., I'll just remind them that, despite being a swell moderator, you're also prone to lie when it comes to your religious obligation. We all understand that socialist tendencies are chronic and irreversible once they fail to diminish by 30. Now, go pray to Obama and your prophets, may peace be upon them.

Sorry, Obama turned out to be a false prophet--seeming only to want to help those fasciocapitalists who have churned out mega- true profits.

Good man. Good man. You admit that Socialism is your religion, that Obama and others are your prophets (ALL false prophets IMO), and that following the Democrats is a lose-lose-lose for everybody involved, especially the nation as a whole. Your honesty is as appreciated as it was unexpected.

I believe that some form of a much more economically egalitarian society is the true populism that dem "ignerint" teabaggers really want--just too stupid to realize how much happier they would be under such a system.

FYI, Bush (41 and 43) were NOT conservatives...they were Republican's. Obama is not a populist, he is a socialist. We're afraid of Obama because of his Socialist policies...we're afraid of him because he'll force us into a Canadian nightmare scenario of healthcare...we're afraid of him because he'll tax us to death to pay for other people's laziness, we're afraid of Obama because he'll use his Chicago thug style politics to take over more and more of the American economy...What's his busget now? How many TRILLIONS? The debt Bush ran up in 8 years is now more than doubled by Obama...in ONLY ONE YEAR! OMG!!!

    1) Obama is not a socialist. This is a right-wing fiction.

    2) Canadians by and large approve of their health care system--hardly a nightmare.

    3) Obama said he wanted to raise taxes on the rich. And the rich somehow are able to fool all of the folks whom those tax increases would help that their taxes will go up, too. Wrong.

Nobody likes deficits. That said, there are structural and cyclical deficits. A raised level of unemployment automatically triggers both state and federal spending. Would you like to cut that out? This recession has been marked by an unusually high and prolonged level of unemployment, which the stimulus has only blunted. Can you imagine how worse things would have been without the stimulus? Look at these two graphs from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities:

Any clue now where the bulk of the structural deficit is coming from?

Think we should engage in premature Hooverian deficit cutting at this point?

Keep your eye on the structural deficit. And don't make yourself look like a total loony by calling Obama socialist. The left is disappointed in him as he's insufficiently liberal as it is.

    Default More off-hand remarks.

Seems like the Queen of the Teabaggers was just following in the footsteps of other great leaders:

Notes other famous people wrote on their hands:
    Lincoln:

Civil War still goin' on, but...
    Perish? Us? Balderdash!
    FDR:
    No fear
    'cept spiders fear itself
    Belief pretty firm on that
    Bush II:
    Words are on teleprompter
Read right to left left to right
    Ride 'em cowboy! Love, Condi
    JFK:
    Don’t ask:
    Country ---> You = bad
    You ---> Country = good

    Today: Poland
    Tomorrow: World

Canadian nightmare?????? WTF are you talking about? All people covered. Costs less to the country than in the USA. They have a longer lifespan, lower infant mortality rate... shall we go on? Manageable deficit. If the USA could be like Canada now, wow, any POTUS would be a hero.

That must be why she changed her "palm pilot" notes from "budget cuts" to "tax cuts" - Tea Partiers love government assistance, they just do not want to pay for it.

And I thought you were for people's right to do what they want in their own bedrooms. Of course, *I* have more respect for women than to humiliate them, publicly OR privately. Then again, the women who do put up with the strange demands and needs of metrosexuals and other herbivores can only be described as dumb, so I guess you're right after all.

Now, back on topic, Dude. This thread is about the tea party crowd. You know... Those patriotic Americans who stand for fiscal responsibility and fair taxes. Fair, according to the definition of the word. Government will use any and all money sent its way and should be forced to live within a budget, like the real people.

If they stand for fiscal responsibility, why do they support two very expensive, unwinnable, unnessecary wars ?

Because those two CAMPAIGNS are worthwhile efforts toward WINNING the ONE war being fought to ensure that responsible governments abroad keep their populations from exporting, if not producing, terrorists who affect our safety at home. It's the responsibility of a mature USA to protect our citizenry, despite half of them being spoiled, rebellious malcontents who have no appreciation for those who ensure their freedom to secure health, safety, success, and happiness. When they want and earn them. We REAL Americans care enough to fight the wars and win them. You plastic Americans have never had it in you and it's starting to become obvious, AGAIN.

You Never Explain Why They Want To Do Us Harm! What's Their Motivation?

Helen Thomas makes them squirm when she asks why ? Why do they attack us ? They don't answer her.

I heard that new Senator Scott Brown say today that he wanted money to build weapons to defeat the terroists with. WTF ? What is he going to do, blow up the whole Middle East ?.

Morons who think that the war on terror will be won with a bomb and a full body scanner need to be schooled ASAP. The war on terror will be won by figuring out what motivates them and fixing it.

Agreed. The teabaggers are just ignorant people who need to be properly schooled by those who have achieved much higher academic achievement and are leaps and bounds much more intelligent. We'll just continue the struggle to educate these unfortunately dim individuals despite themselves.

The problem is that we KNOW what motivates them and what is the only way to stop them from passing the motivation on to their offspring, but YOU guys pretend it's not what it is, so we have to fight YOU while fighting the terrorists. They refuse to share the planet or universe with Jews or anyone who has EVER taken the side of the Jews. They were Hitler's henchmen in the ME and Africa. They have refused to remove promises to destroy ALL Jews from documents as significant as the Palestinian Charter (read constitution). They will never be content unless the last man, woman, and child on Earth either joins them or bows to them. The only impediment to winning a war against such evil people is that YOU LEFTIES pretend that none of this motivation even exists and create loopholes, escape tunnels, and inroads for the terrorists to use and abuse. Without YOU guys to assist them, the terrorists would never be able to succeed even as little as they do. Stop aiding, abetting, and a$$-kissing them. THAT is how to win.
Shinshokukan. A gaijin unlike other gaijin. Especially those who give gaijin a bad name.

Interestingly, the government said that it is 'not terrorism.' I guess that means it's because the guy was white.
