The first time I tried to, it was totally under-cooked (just slightly sauteed), and I thought I would die of food poisoning. Fortunately, a lovely young J-chick showed me the proper way to do it.

Then she cooked me goya champuru to restore my energy for Round II..!
Dag, I can see why you like it. I think I'd like just about anything in that situation.

    Cool

I used to hate sushi... now I love it!
it was too damn RAW compared to the "sushi" you get overseas.
I never understood Onsen... I am addicted now.

The 2 things I will NEVER get used to:
    Umeboshi
Horrible music on TV. Jpop is the worst thing ever!

I used to hate the freezing sh*tbox houses that have no insulation.

Now, ... um, wait a minute.

What, you don't enjoy the clean, crisp feeling of the great outdoors . . . from inside your apartment?

Default Another thing I (use to) hate

I hated Japanese toilets for years. Now I wont go unless it a J-toilet. I can't stand the western ones.

-Cold, black coffee. Before I drank black coffee only hot. In Japan black coffee is tasty also cold!

-Dusty, untidy shops. But I found some awesome vintage stuff shops. Bought a 70's C3PO for 1000 yen. Forgave the dust.

I used to think it's disgusting. Now it's tolerable and eaten out of polite obligation.

Other than that, hate and like the same stuff basically. Natto is disgusting, but tororo is delicious. Oden seems like some 3rd world soup, wheres the meat?? Disgusting...

Ditto on this, especially if it's a public toilet. The elevation of the western toilet, the smaller cubicle, the toilet seat (even though I am a girl I will neeeeeeeeever make contact with a toilet seat that isn't my own) everything is just nooooooo.

    That trailer is awesome.
The only thing in Japan that is harder than being a foreigner in Japan, is being Japanese in Japan.

That is a pretty awesome trailer.

Milk is something that i have started to like more and more the longer i have been here. I hated it when i first arrived, but it has slowly grown on me. Cheese on the other hand is still terrible. Am I the only one who thinks that all Japanese cheese tastes like cheese string? Although i do have a soft spot for those circular cheese filled fried things that you get in izakayas. I also share the opinion that mochi has gone from a yuck to a yum response, also sweets like dango and daifuku.
