I’m teaching private English lessons like an Ekaiwa in a Café. The terms of use aren’t like renting an office space where I would have to paid insurance, utilities and rent. Whatever I make I have to give the business owner 20%, in return the owner provides me with advertising. My question is what legal contract do I need to cover my ___ if an accident happens or other legal issues arise? I’m not interested in being a partner because that entails more financial obligation and I don’t want to rent the room from the owner because then I’m liable to repair any damages. So I assume I would come under a sub contractor title, like a skilled laborer. If anybody has been in this situation before or is knowledgeable about Japanese contract law I’d love to hear from you.
