Default mosquito plague - how to get rid of them?

    Hi,
It seems we got a sort of mosquito plague at home for the last 2 weeks. We are talking about these funny mosquitos that fly in slow-motion, but when they bite you, puhm, you got the red dot. The ones with the zzzzzz when you are sleeping and approaching you.

Anyway, they only appear in the evening or during the night.

I spayed the whole house a couple of times (then leave), and checked all possible holes to the exterior,... I couldn't find anything out of the ordinary.

Any tip for getting rid of these bastards?

    It had become very annoying.

You need to get them where they hatch – in water. Drain every flower pot dish, bucket, swamp, etc. If you canft drain, add some oil as it will prevent them from getting sufficient oxygen when at the larva stage.

Mosquito coils are good for abeyance, and spraying the air will kill the few still inside, but they will find you if they are allowed to hatch.

There are some sprays that kill every mosquito in the room but are supposedly safe enough to use around babies. I dunno the name/brand but those are your best bet inside. As far as outside goes, TJ's advice is the best.
PurpleDaisies- try "kimi no shitagi hoshii" if she hesitates, add "okane wo harau yo"

Citronella oil is the natural repellant, while pyrethrins (from chrysanthemums), are a reasonable insecticide, occasionally combined with carbamate.

DEET is probably the most effective repellant, though you need to take care applying it to sensitive skin, or close to certain plastics/ artificial fibres, e.g. nylon shirts, which may dissolve.

    guys, thanks for your tips.

i tried to find out where they do hatch. my lifetime companion, ehr, yeah, my wife saw one going out the sink drain of the toilet. i droped some bleach, i sprayed with mosquito staff, and seal it with tape. i felt like sigorney weaver, if you know what i mean.

    nothing.

i had to wake up a couple of times that very same night because of two bloody mosquitos more.

i have been spraying around since then, with no results. this afternoon i killed two more.

the house is pretty clean for godsake, i can't really understand where they are coming from.

and the zzzzz and 3 oclock in the morning is becoming VERY annoying.

The larva no longer die in the winter - global warming and all... at least not where they used to die, since it takes a hard-freeze to kill the larva.

Ones that have already harched can survive as well if they are somewhat protected - indoors, under brush, etc.

They'll be living in corners of ceilings, behind shelves and cupboards, away from currents of wind that might damage their delicate wings. Also check your windows, window frames/ joists, and outer covers for little openings where they might fly in.

Anecdotally, since installing an air conditioning unit, have not been plagued with them this year, but a single sample test is not really statistically meaningful!
