    Default Cold Calling

Around a year ago. I was getting a lot of cold calls from investment companies (I blame it on having a linkedIn profile). In the last few months they seemed to have died off and then today, I got a call from something or other capital wanting to come and meet with me. Did they go somewhere? Are they back? Is it legal?
I'd like to see what they have but am a bit apprehensive and am fairly weak when it comes to the hard sell. Anyone had any experience?

    Any feedback much appreciated,
    Sam

    Stay away from the light.

They haven't bothered me for a while, but I'm sure they'll be back. Probably been quiet while nobody was investing in anything.

I did give one of 'em a few minutes once. They offered to rape my pension fund.

Just another bunch coming in, they use the same mailing list!

One suggested response was to say, 'Just a moment, please," and walk away and leave the phone...

Are we talking here about people with bachelors in art history re-converted to investment products salesman?

(got linkedin profile, never got a call... you put your telephone number there?)

Depends on your definition of "investment".

Don't forget the ex-policeman, retired hairdresser, former supermarket shelf-fillers and other famous financial anal-ysts on their staff!

    Default Just found this.

This suggests that these calls are not strictly legal.

Ask them how they got your number. Wait for them to say it was a "referral", then demand the name of the person who passed on your number. They can never answer this. It sends the conversation nicely into a brick wall.

Go ahead and set up an appointment - then just never show up. Claim it was an emergency, and set up another - and then don't show up. Then when they do call - put them on hold, or just use the hands-free mode and mute while they do their thing.

No, but if you'd like to PM me all your personal and financial details, I'd like to meet up sometime as I need capital for a number of really great ideas for start-up businesses.

I'm always on the lookout for wimps to invest in my ideas...
