By the way, during my trip i'm looking to stay in a Ryokan with an onsen. Could anyone recommend a good one that's worth going to in either Kyoto/Mt Fuji area or near Hiroshima? Had a look at a few online but don't know exactly what ones best to go for. My budget for one would be around 10,000 - 15,000 yen.
Kinosaki in nortthern Hyogo is well known as an onsen spot but its off the beaten track. about 2.5-3 hours from Osaka going toward Japan Sea coast. Arima onsen near Kobe is quite famous but my guess is its crowded and touristy. at the moment is crab season so Id go to Kinosaki if I had the time.
