  • Any English-speaking race club available in Japan?

    Dear All,

I will be staying in Japan for the next two years.
As a motorsport enthusiast, I would like to continue my hobby, which is car racing.
Because I currently speak no Japanese, it would be great if I can find a racing-oriented shop or club that has English-speaking staff.
Does any English speaker have this kind of experience in Japan? (buying/tuning cars, track day, amateur racingc, etc.)

    Thanks.

      Thanks for your response.

I am a Taiwanese applying for MBA programs in Japan (lectured in English).
Ifve got the admission of Kyoto University, and Waseda Business School might give me an admission early this October.
I will go to Waseda if everything goes well. In this case, I will be staying in Tokyo area for the next two years.

Currently I drive a 05f Renault Megane RS225 and a Tony Kart with a Rotax engine.
I hope my humble background could make me a qualified member of your club.

theres plenty of specialist garages some of who speak english but most not.

If you want to join amateur race (not just track day) you can get a car and join SCCJ http://www.inter-club.co.jp/ some guys speak english and you can normally get by.

If you want to do official FIA/JAF race then you will need to get a racing licence (eg. 1 day course at Tsukuba)
then you can join official Jaf races.

If you just want to do track days, get yourself a car then go to nearest circuit and get a license (2hr lecture) then you can drive on any of their track days.

i wouldnt let inability to speak japanes stop you. When I sat for my fia/jaf competition racing license i didnt speak a world of japanese.....i just nodded occasionally and winged it......
Cool. Did you undergo any FIA membership transer? (from your local ASN to the JAF) Or you just got a new license in Japan.

            Hi NonStopReaper,

I am a fellow car enthusiast new to Japan, living in Nagano Prefecture looking to find track days with other English speaking guys.

My BMW M135i is on order and should be delivered in September , mods (lsd, coilovers, downpipe, piggyback) all ready to be fitted.

            My car history includes RX8, RX7, G35, MR2's, 240SX, and many more.

I have tried to join you facebook club under profile name Chris Dove.

Look forward to tearing up the tracks with you and your guys.

            Cheers,
            Chris
